Program
The Honors Program of Community Music School is for advanced instrumental and
vocal students who show special interest and skills in music performance. The
goal of the Honors Program is to develop students musical understanding
and skills to a high level and provide opportunities to apply that knowledge in
performances. The Honors program is designed to help prepare students for
admission to a conservatory or university as a music major or minor.
Acceptance into the Honors Program is based on auditions that are held in May
for the academic year that begins in September and ends in August. A written
recommendation by a school or private music teacher is also required for
acceptance into the program. Students that have been accepted into the Honors
Program must re-audition each May to remain in the Honors Program.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
-
For instrumentalists, two contrasting solo selections, each at least three
minutes in length, drawn from the standard repertoire for the students
instrument. Both selections must be memorized.
