Kindermusik
At Community Music School, we believe that music education should be a joyful
experience for children. Numerous studies have recently determined how
important music is in the overall development of the young child. For this
reason, we are pleased to offer Kindermusik curricula for children from birth
to age seven. A team of creative early childhood education and music
specialists developed the Kindermusik curriculum. Each curriculum is designed
for specific age groups and development levels and all include essential
parental involvement. Kindermusik is a fun and enticing way to introduce the
very young child to music and it provides an excellent foundation for later
instrumental study. Miss Rachel, the CMS Kindermusik instructor, has over 12
years experience with the Kindermusik program and is beloved by all her
students.

Encouraging the storyteller in your child, Imagine That continues his or her
creative, musical development while building on their preschool learning. Fun

Each week for 60 minutes, up to ten students explore many facets of
music-speaking and singing, moving, listening, creating and playing
instruments, and learning about reading and writing music. During each class,
creative movement or dances are interspersed with quiet activities like drawing
or focused listening. The curriculum introduces the glockenspiel, a
pre-keyboard instrument, as well as string and woodwind instruments like the
dulcimer and recorder. Parents are invited to share in the last few minutes of
class. There are four 15-week sessions of the Young Child curriculum that can
be taken over a two year period. The capstone of Kindermusik, Young Child is
the perfect pressure-free preparation for private instruction.
