Music therapy can make a tremendous difference for students of all ages with any type of special needs. Children and adults with mental health problems, attention deficit disorders, developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and physical disabilities are all welcome to participate in the MusicWorks program at CMS.
All MusicWorks applicants are given an initial assessment at their Interview Lesson. During the assessment, the therapist determines the nature of the prospective students special needs, their emotional well being, level of social functioning, communication abilities and cognitive skills. After the initial assessment, the music therapist will make appropriate study recommendations to meet the needs and goals the student.
Once an appropriate course of therapy has been recommended and agreed upon between therapist and parent/caregiver, the student is accepted into the program
CMS is pleased to offer limited financial assistance to students enrolled in the MusicWorks program.
The MusicWorks program is supported in part by the Collegeville-Trappe United Fund and the Child Development Foundation of Montgomery County.
